Ambassador Restaurant E. coli Outbreak
The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department linked at least seven E. coli O157:H7 illnesses to The Ambassador Restaurant in Houghton, Michigan in late 2011. The illnesses occurred over the 2011 Christmas holiday. Health officials have stated that a ill food handler working at The Ambassador was to blame for the outbreak.
4 of the 7confirmed cases had to be hospitalized, though it wasunclear if any had hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). No deaths occurred.
